Happy Pi Day 2011
by ADMIN
Pi day Mar 14(dailysunrisenews.blogspot.com) - As the math and science enthusiasts among us already know, March 14 (i.e. 3/14) is official Pi Day — a day to celebrate the number Pi, identified by the Greek letter π, which is used to calculate the circumference of a circle.
This is the number one day of the year to celebrate your favorite mathematical constant!

| Happy Pi Day, math lovers! |
If you take the day really seriously you can celebrate at 26 and a half seconds after 1:59pm (3.14159265 is pi truncated to 8 decimal places) but we’ll just be enjoying the entire day.
And just so you don’t embarrass yourself today, please don’t forget this one key fact: Pi is the ratio between the diameter of a circle and its circumference. That’s pretty basic knowledge for some, but if you’ve been out of school for a few years it’s easy enough to forget and think it’s the radius instead.
This, being the fourteenth day of the third month, is National Pi Day — a day to recognize the mathematical constant of pi. In this video, the daughter of YouTube user kurtgodden recited the first 500 digits of pi in 90 seconds. She’s memorized the first 2,300.
